We are looking to hire a Logistics Co-Ordinator on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, the Logistics Co-Ordinator has the responsibility to support the business with all aspects of shipping, import, export and logistics activity, ensuring that customs clearance and trade compliance requirements are met in accordance with Claxton procedures, standard operating procedures, applicable legislation and relevant country-specific regulations. The role is responsible for coordinating the timely, compliant and cost-effective movement of equipment and associated documentation.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
Ensure all shipments and accompanying documentation comply with Claxton’s trade compliance programme, procedures, and applicable laws, rules and regulations in the country of departure and destination.
Process despatch/collection requests and book the required transport to move equipment.
Create, maintain and control all relevant import and export documentation
Liaise with freight forwarders to ensure efficient shipping of equipment to worldwide destinations.
Obtain export and import entries from freight agents to complete logistics files required to satisfy audit requirements.
Provide logistical knowledge to all parties on site and identify means of shipping equipment.
Liaise with client logistics handlers/international freight forwarders, ensuring all goods and equipment is manifested, shipped and received in compliance with Claxton policy and procedures
Liaise with all Warehouse and Logistics colleagues to ensure the efficient and accurate control of imports and exports, confirming full compliance with company and legislative requirements.
Liaise with colleagues globally in relation to shipments and document control in international locations.
Maintain awareness of relevant domestic and international transportation, customs and trade compliance requirements.
Check and validate all freight and packing invoices for import/export items.
Ensure logistics records, customs entries, export evidence and supporting documentation are retained in accordance with company procedures, audit requirements and applicable trade compliance obligations.
Provide logistics support to other Claxton Engineering sites as required.
Obtain quotes from freight providers.
Create purchase orders to support processing and payment of freight-related invoices
Essential Experience
Proven import/export experience within international logistics.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Logistics Co-Ordinator, Import/Export Co-Ordinator, Freight Co-Ordinator or similar role.
Experience working in a busy environment with fluctuating activity levels.
Technical Knowledge
Export licence control.
Import regimes including IPR, RGR and Duty Paid.
Customs procedure codes.
Incoterms.
Classification of goods.
Shipping practices and handling methods.
Skills and Attributes
Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Able to prioritise work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong organisation skills.
