As Assistant Facilities Manager (AFM) you will occupy a senior operational leadership role within the site facilities structure, providing advanced electrical authority, operational leadership, and strategic facilities management responsibility.
Acting as a deputy to the Facilities Manager in operational and technical areas, you will be responsible for supporting delivery of technical governance, operational performance, financial control, and the delivery of infrastructure projects within our business-critical data centre environment.
The role operates within a defined governance framework, with strategic oversight and final accountability retained by the Facilities Manager. It goes beyond supervision and requires the ability to lead the function, influence decision-making, manage budgets, and deliver complex programmes of work.
In addition to core facilities responsibilities, you will also provide cross-functional support into the Logistics and Procurement functions. You will be expected to step in to support and, where required, lead both Facilities and Logistics operations in the absence of the Facilities Manager, ensuring continuity of operational delivery across site services, material flow, and supply chain activities. The role also offers scope to support data alignment and reporting, working alongside the Data Management team to ensure accurate, meaningful data is captured across Facilities and Logistics operations.
Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
Strong experience in leading operational teams
Significant experience in managing contractors and vendors
Health & Safety Compliance (ISO45001)
Security (ISO27001)
IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH certification
Experience with CAFM systems, compliance tools, and performance reporting
Wider technical competence across cooling systems, BMS, and mechanical plant
Formal project management exposure (PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent experience)
Previous experience in a Assistant Facilities Manager or equivalent leadership role
Exposure to warehouse/logistics systems or inventory management tools
Experience working with data reporting, dashboards, or operational performance metrics
Interest or experience in data analysis and data management alignment across operational teams
Ability to work across multiple operational functions and manage competing priorities
Proven experience as an HV/LV Authorised Person (or readiness to step into full AP responsibility)
Demonstrable experience in a critical environment (data centre, HPC, or high-availability infrastructure)
Change management
Delivering infrastructure or engineering projects
Proven ability to manage budgets, track costs, and influence financial decisions
Strong understanding of risk management in mission-critical environments.
