The Refuge aims to help women and children fleeing domestic abuse by providing them with temporary accommodation and assist clients to secure and move into their own accommodation supporting them in a holistic and trauma informed way and building partnerships with external agencies.
The purpose of the role is to maintain a high standard of environment, décor and cleanliness in the Council’s Refuge Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for thoroughly checking and cleaning all empty flats, replenishing any household items and changing/washing bed linen. The role also includes carrying out minor and simple repairs to flats and communal areas. You may also be expected to move and assemble furniture if needed as well as carry out weekly and monthly health and safety checks as required by the Council’s policies.
The successful candidate will have general health and safety knowledge and basic repair skills. You require good organisational and time management skills and experience of cleaning / manual handling. You will work as part of the wider team to ensure the smooth running of the service.
