Job Summary
My Client are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful applicant will be involved in various aspects of food production, working closely with senior chefs to uphold high standards of food safety and quality.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support the senior kitchen team with food presentation and plating
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with hygiene regulations
- Ensure all food safety procedures are followed diligently
- Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen by supporting team members during busy periods
- Assist with inventory checks and stock rotation to minimise waste
- Support supervising staff in training junior team members when required
- Serve dishes to guests as directed by the head chef or supervisor
- Participate in menu planning and development initiatives as needed
Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Proven skills in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Supervising experience or leadership qualities are advantageous but not essential for entry-level candidates willing to learn
- Knowledge of food production processes and kitchen organisation
- Familiarity with hospitality standards, including serving guests and maintaining high levels of customer service
- Experience with team management or leadership roles within a culinary setting is desirable but not mandatory
