GP Receptionist Vacancy
Location: Lavant Road Surgery, Chichester PO19 5RH
Salary: Starting at £12.71 per hour, with an increase following successful completion of probation.
Hours: 20 hours per week – Monday to Friday (over 4 days), worked on a rota between 07:45 and 18:30.

The Role
We're looking for a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic individual to join our reception team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play a vital role in ensuring everyone receives a warm welcome and the support they need.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Greeting Patients
Provide a professional, friendly, and welcoming service to patients and visitors at our reception desk.
Managing Enquiries
Respond to patient enquiries in person and over the telephone, directing them to the appropriate clinician or service with empathy and efficiency.
Appointments
Book routine and follow-up appointments, manage appointment systems, and support clinical triage processes.
Administration
Carry out a range of administrative tasks, including processing patient requests, actioning GP tasks, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Communication
Work closely with patients, clinicians, and colleagues to ensure effective communication across the practice.
Confidentiality
Handle sensitive information with professionalism, maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with practice policies and data protection legislation.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys helping people, communicates confidently, and remains calm under pressure. You'll be a positive team player who is organised, adaptable, and happy working in a busy reception environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional approach.
- Strong IT skills and confidence using computer systems.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, multitask, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience in a GP surgery, healthcare setting, or customer service role.
- Knowledge of clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMIS Web.
If you don't have previous GP experience but have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with people, we'd still love to hear from you, as full training will be provided.
