General Manager – Mala Secret Garden
Mala Secret Garden is looking for a strong, creative, hands-on General Manager to lead one of Manchester’s most exciting food, drink and social venues.
This is not a standard hospitality management role. We want someone who lives and breathes hospitality, understands culture, atmosphere, music, events, branding and people — someone who can help push Mala to the next level creatively while still running a tight operation behind the scenes.
You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of a busy multi-vendor food hall, bar and events space, while also bringing fresh ideas to improve service, customer experience, events, marketing and overall venue energy.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong hospitality management experience
- Is naturally creative and full of ideas
- Can lead and motivate a large team confidently
- Understands modern hospitality trends, branding and social media
- Thrives in fast-paced environments
- Is organised, proactive and solution-focused
- Can manage operations, staffing, standards and service at a high level
- Has experience with events, music-led venues or food halls (preferred)
- Isn’t afraid to get stuck in on the floor when needed
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily venue operations
- Managing and leading front-of-house teams
- Maintaining high service and cleanliness standards
- Improving customer experience and venue atmosphere
- Helping create and execute events, activations and creative ideas
- Working closely with vendors and management teams
- Staff training, rotas and team development
- Monitoring venue performance and driving growth
- Assisting with marketing direction and social presence
- Problem solving quickly and professionally during service
