We're looking for an experienced and motivated Bar Manager to join the team at The Plough Inn to oversee daily operations and ensure an exceptional experience for every guest. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a solid background in hospitality, and the ability to manage bar and front-of-house teams effectively.
About the Role:
As Bar Manager you will lead the team and manage the venue, help to coach and develop your team and meet agreed targets. You’ll be part of a group of sister venues that are all working towards making moments that matter and delivering experiences that keeps our guests coming back for more. You will work with the General Manager to manage shifts in The Plough Inn and ensure that peak service hours are covered and well managed. You will monitor gaps and opportunities for improvement throughout the group
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and compete all daily/monthly/weekly records and prepare financial reports ensuring that the standard set by the Company is adhered to.
Initiate and effect remedial action to budget when required. Paying particular attention to Wage budget and other controllable costs.
Assisting with scheduling staff and controlling wage percentage.
Ensure that all prices are up to date, displayed and take appropriate action when prices increase so that maximum profit is also achieved. Including updating POS systems when required.
Ensure cashing up is completed on a daily basis and reconciliation is carried out against consumption.
Make recommendations to Owners on ways on increasing business in the bar and restaurant, monitor local competition and customer requirements.
Effective leadership skills and ability to maximise team performance
Excellent communication and presentation skills – ensuring you are available to always communicate with customers and to maintain good relationships with all staff
Experience pricing all bar drinks and ensure that the required profit is achieved, as set in the budget.
Managing stock levels to ensure that minimum stock levels are maintained, and items do not run out & ordering of stock weekly via proceurewizard.
Bar stock – rotating in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.
Have complete familiarity with key IT software i.e. Touch Office/Bizimply/Procurewizard
Compliance with licensing conditions and completing all H&S compliance required e.g. maintaining fire safety records, recording accidents/near misses thoroughly & correctly.
Maintain strict levels of hygiene in all areas ensuring that staff is fully aware of Environmental Health Office, ensuring that the venue is safe for staff and customers Cocktail/Mixology experience and the ability to train others
Extensive knowledge of wines, serves and spirits
Deal with any complaints, identify cause and take action so that the problem is resolved and does not reoccur.
Proficient in all Microsoft IT packages and be able to provide financial and stock reports as requested by management.
