The pathway assistant role is an exciting opportunity to join our administration team in the Endoscopy Unit which provides first class administration and reception services to the Division. As part of the Patient Pathway team, the Pathway Assistant/Receptionist plays a key front-facing administrative role within the GI Physiology Unit, providing a professional and welcoming reception service to patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves acting as the first point of contact within the department, ensuring patients are greeted courteously, enquiries are handled efficiently, and the reception area runs smoothly on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities include tracking patients through their care pathways, processing clinical correspondence in a timely manner, and providing essential administrative support to the Clinical team and wider multidisciplinary team to help maintain an organised and efficient service.
The role also involves answering telephone calls, responding to patient and staff enquiries, managing reception duties, updating patient information, and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the GI Physiology Unit. In addition, the post holder will provide general administrative support to the clinical, management, and administrative teams to ensure the smooth running of the department.
Successful candidates will have previous administration experience and either experience of working in an NHS organisation or a desire to work within a healthcare organisation. They will be able to communicate with a range of patients and colleagues and possess excellent team working, negotiation and organisation skills. Above all they will be committed to helping us deliver excellent patient care.
