Bessacarr Primary are seeking to appoint 3 experienced and compassionate Behaviour Support Specialists to join our committed team. This role focuses on supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs using a trauma-informed approach, working both 1:1 and within the classroom to enable pupils to feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.
About the Role
You will:

Provide targeted 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils within the classroom to access learning and manage behaviour
- Implement trauma-informed strategies and consistent behaviour approaches
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals
- Develop, implement, and review individual behaviour support plans and risk assessments
- Support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive relationships
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally in a primary setting
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies
- The ability to build positive, professional, and trusting relationships with pupils
- Excellent communication, de-escalation, and teamwork skills
- Emotional resilience, patience, and a consistent approach
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
