Afterschool Playworker – Little Farm Childcare

Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring Afterschool Playworker to join our team at Little Farm Childcare.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and can help us provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment where children can relax, play, create and enjoy themselves after their school day.
You will work alongside our existing team of playworkers during our Afterschool Club, supporting children through a range of free-play and planned activities while helping to ensure their individual needs, safety and wellbeing are met.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive, cheerful, reliable and a team player, with the confidence to get involved and make children's time at Little Farm enjoyable.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Work alongside our team of playworkers during Afterschool Club, typically from 2:45/3:00pm until 6:00pm.
- Supervise children and ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Engage with children through play and build positive, trusting relationships.
- Organise and take part in fun, age-appropriate activities including crafts, games, outdoor play and creative activities.
- Encourage children's independence, confidence, social skills and positive relationships with others.
- Support children's emotional needs through reassurance, encouragement and positive guidance.
- Help create a happy, welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Support positive behaviour in line with Little Farm Childcare's procedures.
- Help maintain clean, organised and safe play areas.
- Work effectively as part of the Little Farm team.
- Communicate professionally and positively with parents and carers.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety and childcare procedures.
- Take part in additional activities, events and outings where required.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous childcare experience.
- Is confident and comfortable working with children of different ages.
- Is enthusiastic, friendly and approachable.
- Has a proactive attitude and is happy to get involved in children's play and activities.
- Is reliable and responsible.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Can use their own initiative.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
- Is flexible and able to work during afterschool hours.
Hours & Opportunities
The role offers a minimum of 9 hours per week, with additional hours available.
There is the opportunity for either a term-time-only role or an all-year-round position, with additional playworker hours available in our Holiday Club during the school holidays.
