Pinewood Residential Care is looking for caring, reliable and experienced Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our team at Quail House in South Wimbledon.
Quail House is an established children’s home supporting young people aged 8–16. We are looking to welcome new team members who are committed to giving young people the support, stability and encouragement they need.

What you’ll be doing
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be part of the young people’s everyday lives. You’ll provide care, support and guidance while helping them develop confidence, independence and important life skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day care and support
- Building positive, respectful relationships with young people
- Supporting routines, education, activities and appointments
- Encouraging independence and development
- Supporting young people through difficult or challenging situations
- Following safeguarding procedures and keeping young people safe
- Working in line with individual care plans
- Completing daily records and reports
- Preparing meals and helping keep the home clean, comfortable and welcoming
- Working closely with colleagues and other professionals
- Attending team meetings, supervision and training
Every day can be different, so you’ll need to be patient, reliable and able to stay calm and professional when situations become challenging.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with children or young people in a care, support, education or similar setting
- An understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people
- Good communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
- A caring, patient and respectful approach
- Good safeguarding knowledge
- The ability to manage challenging situations appropriately
- Good written and IT skills for completing records and reports
- Availability to work 12-hour shifts on a rolling rota
- A willingness to work towards an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare within 3 to 6 months of starting
An Enhanced DBS check is required, and we will support you through the process.
