We're looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our friendly café team.
Our café serves a varied menu of freshly prepared food, including traditional British breakfast and lunch classics alongside flavourful Caribbean dishes. We're looking for someone who enjoys cooking from fresh, takes pride in the quality of their food, and can work confidently in a busy kitchen.
Working Hours
- 27.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00am – 2:30pm
- No evenings or weekends
This role would suit someone who is organised, works well as part of a team, maintains high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, and enjoys creating delicious food in a welcoming community café environment.
Overall Purpose:
As a Chef at HBH, you will be part of the Kitchen and Cafe team. You will oversee all aspects of food preparation and production in the kitchen, maintaining health and food hygiene standards in line with FSA standards.
Duties Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals to the public, residents.
- Manage food storage according to FSA regulations
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency
- Stock rotation and wastage control
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and Infection control.
- Maintaining all FSA paperwork, including daily checksheets, cleaning sheets and your safer food better business folder is up to date.
- To ensure that the temperature records and monitoring is carried out on a daily basis.
- Correct cheffing uniform to be worn in line with Food hygiene guidelines, hair tied back, closed toe shoes, armpits covered.
- Maintain all equipment and communicate if anything needs replacing.
- Opening and Closing of the kitchen and responsible for being a key holder.
General
- Demonstrate excellent kitchen and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Work with a small team with the desire to motivate, teach and support progression. Promoting good working relationships between team members to create a happy working environment.
- Inventory control, food safety, and sanitation practices.

- Treat all staff, residents and visitors fairly and without prejudice, in line with HBH’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
- Be aware of the correct procedures for dealing with any suggested incidents of safeguarding concerns and follow them, in line with HBH’s Safeguarding Policy.
- Adhere to all HBH’s policies and procedures.
A DBS Check and Level 2 hygiene certificate is required for this role.
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
