What does a Community Carer actually do?
You help people continue living life in their own homes.
That could mean helping someone get washed and dressed in the morning, preparing lunch, reminding them about medication or taking them to an appointment.
It can also mean making a cup of tea, talking about what's happening in the village, going out for a walk or helping someone continue doing something they love.
Your day might include:
- Personal care
- Medication support
- Preparing meals
- Shopping
- Household tasks
- Appointments and outings
- Mobility support
- Companionship
- Helping people remain as independent as possible
We're looking for people, not perfect CVs
Experience is welcome, but it isn't essential.
Some of the qualities we can't teach are warmth, reliability, patience, humour and genuinely caring what happens to another person.
If you've got those, we can teach you the rest.
Want to develop a career?
Care doesn't have to be "just a care job".
We support people to develop into Peer Mentors, Senior Carers and leadership roles, alongside further training and development opportunities.
What you need
Because you'll be travelling between people's homes, you must:
- Be a driver
- Have access to your own car
- Live within or close to the Ivybridge area
- Already have the right to work in the UK
