Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver to join our dynamic waste management team. In this vital role, you will operate a Class 2 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) to collect refuse and recyclables from designated residential, commercial, and industrial locations. Your energetic approach will ensure efficient collection routes, uphold safety standards, and deliver excellent service to our community. Duties
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle throughout designated refuse collection routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Collect refuse and recyclables from residential, commercial, and industrial customers with precision and professionalism
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, report any mechanical issues promptly, and maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials in compliance with environmental guidelines
- Assist with loading or unloading waste containers when necessary, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
- Maintain accurate records of collections, route logs, and any incidents or irregularities encountered during shifts
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery
Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, preferably within waste collection or similar logistics roles
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and road safety regulations
- Experience with flatbed or specialized vehicles is a plus but not required
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy containers or waste bins safely
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, or overtime as needed
