About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Repair Workshop based at our Sittingbourne facility.
We are looking for an individual with previous mechanical fitting or engineering experience to join our experienced workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling a wide range of rotating equipment, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Whilst previous experience repairing electric motors and rotating equipment is advantageous, it is not essential. Full training will be provided in our specialist repair techniques. Applicants should, however, have a sound engineering background, strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn in order to develop successfully within the role.
Salary is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. Candidates with relevant industry experience will be considered.

In addition to workshop-based duties, the successful applicant may occasionally be required to carry out maintenance, repair and installation work at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble rotating electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and identify appropriate repair solutions.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and safety at all times.
- Assist with on-site maintenance, repair and installation work when required.
- Work effectively as part of the workshop team while maintaining a positive and proactive approach.
- Support and mentor apprentices, helping to develop the next generation of engineers through our successful apprenticeship programme.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in mechanical fitting or a similar engineering role.
- A sound general engineering background with strong practical mechanical skills.
- Good practical engineering skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet business requirements.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred if site work is involved).
Desirable
- Apprenticeship trained.
- Previous experience within a repair or engineering workshop environment.
- Experience in the repair of electric motors, pumps or other rotating equipment.
- Experience of laser alignment, dynamic balancing or vibration analysis.
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
