Main purpose of the role
This is a facilities management post, not a senior technician post. The Site Facilities Manager owns the safe, compliant, reliable and cost-effective delivery of estates and facilities services across Aldingbourne Country Centre and any other agreed Trust locations.
The Country Centre is a complex 26-acre mixed-use estate and visitor attraction. It includes public areas, catering and retail facilities, farm and animal areas, workshops, play areas, woodland, car parks, event spaces, offices and utilities, all used by staff, visitors, volunteers and people with learning disabilities.
The site team’s core strength is building fabric, fabrication and practical support. Specialist engineering, statutory inspection and technical maintenance must be bought from competent service providers wherever the required skill is not held on site. The postholder is accountable for defining the requirement, appointing and controlling providers, and making sure the result is safe, evidenced, timely and good value.
Who this role could suit
This role could suit an experienced facilities or estates professional who wants a purposeful, site-based job away from a large corporate environment. It could also suit a strong facilities supervisor, deputy, coordinator or service leader ready for full managerial accountability. A previous manager title is less important than evidence of planning, ownership, contract control, team leadership and service improvement.
The successful candidate does not need to be the best engineer on site. They must know how to define the requirement, select competent people, control risk, support strong performance and keep the service moving.
