At Thurton Auto Centre, we’re known for delivering excellent customer service across vehicle servicing, MOT testing, repairs, and our specialist Motorhome & Caravan Care division.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a friendly, organised and professional Receptionist to join our team. Part-time and full-time opportunities are available.
The Role
You’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience from arrival to departure.
Your responsibilities will include:
● Greeting customers at reception
● Answering calls and handling enquiries
● Booking appointments and updating our system
● Supporting vehicle drop-offs and collections
● Taking payments and issuing invoices
● Assisting Service Advisors and the wider reception team
● Keeping the reception area tidy and presentable
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

● Comfortable communicating in person and over the phone

● Reliable, punctual and a strong team player
● Competent with computers and quick to learn new systems
Previous reception or customer service experience is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided. Automotive experience is not required—we value attitude and customer focus above all.

Responsibilities
- Greet visitors warmly and professionally, ensuring they feel welcomed and attended to promptly
- Manage incoming calls with excellent phone etiquette, directing inquiries to the appropriate departments or personnel
- Maintain organized reception areas, ensuring all materials are tidy and accessible
- Handle data entry tasks accurately using Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and QuickBooks as needed
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and coordinate calendars efficiently to optimize daily operations
- Assist with clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and preparing correspondence or reports
- Support administrative processes by managing mail distribution, inventory supplies, and maintaining records
Qualifications
- Prior office experience demonstrating strong organizational and administrative skills
- Proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar), and basic data entry techniques
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy in typing and record keeping
- Familiarity with clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing correspondence
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
