Kids Ahoy Nursery is a warm, nurturing and inclusive early years setting dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children from birth to three years. Land Ahoy is an innovative indoor/outdoor forest-style nursery in Dumfries & Galloway, offering a unique learning environment for 3–12-year-olds. Becoming a Modern Apprentice at Kids Ahoy Childcare is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in early years education while completing an accredited qualification.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist practitioners in planning and delivering engaging learning activities for children 0-3 years, preschool and afterschool children.
- Support children during play, snack times, and structured activities, encouraging independence and confidence.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Observe and record children’s progress and contribute to developmental assessments.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and the wider nursery team.
- Participate in team meetings, training and personal development opportunities related to the apprenticeship.
- Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality.
Person Specification:
- Enthusiasm for working with children and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to commute reliably to Land Ahoy Nursery (across from Mabie Kennels DG2 8NA) - accessible by car as not on regular public transport routes.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to personal development.
- Interest in pursuing a career in early years education.
