Due to an exciting period of growth, Kenny Waste Management are recruiting for a Management Accountant to join our busy Finance department based from our office in Little Hulton. The successful candidate will be responsible for combining technical accounting with business partnering and data-driven reporting.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for producing accurate monthly management accounts across multiple group companies, delivering meaningful financial analysis, and developing reporting tools that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Your principal duties will be:
- Prepare monthly management accounts for seven group companies, including group consolidation, for review by the Financial Controller.
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded, key reconciliations are completed and reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Prepare and maintain month-end working papers, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, journal entries and reconciliations of sales to external operating systems within Sage 200.
- Produce monthly profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, cash flow reports and detailed variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the finance team and maintain accurate intercompany reconciliations.
- Develop, maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards, providing meaningful financial and operational reporting to management.
- Extract, transform and integrate data from Sage 200 into Power BI to automate reporting, improve data accuracy and reduce manual Excel processes.
- Monitor and analyse key operational and financial performance indicators, including waste tonnages, disposal costs, sales margins, stock movements, fleet performance and site operating costs.
- Analyse operational costs, identifying trends and opportunities to improve profitability and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts and long-term financial planning.
- Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support business decisions, operational improvements and strategic planning.
- Support the annual audit process and ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
- Build strong working relationships with operational managers across the business, providing financial insight, challenging costs and supporting commercial decision-making.

Person Specification
Essential
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Controller or similar commercial finance role.
- Strong technical knowledge of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Experience of multi-company accounting and group consolidations.
- Experience of month-end and year-end reporting within tight reporting deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using Sage 200.
- Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Desirable
- Experience within the waste management, recycling, logistics, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of financial modelling.
- Experience improving financial reporting processes and business intelligence.
- Experience working with large operational datasets.
