Hours
- Full-time — 37.5 hours per week, 08:30–17:00 (some flexibility available)
- Permanent position
The role of Purchasing Assistant:
- Developing and implementing cost optimisation and enhancing supply chain efficiency
- Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability
- Negotiating terms with suppliers to ensure favourable pricing and payment terms
- Managing supplier relationships including ongoing performance evaluation and on-time deliveries
- Monitoring inventory levels, analysing demand patterns, and implementing inventory management strategies
- Carrying out regular stock counts in accordance with company requirements
- Supporting the Quality Coordinator with supplier non-conformances
- Compiling and maintaining supplier records, databases, price lists, specifications, and contracts
- Raising purchase orders and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
- Preparing reports on purchases including cost analysis
- Co-ordinating with the finance team on purchase ledger queries
The ideal Purchasing Assistant:
- Previous purchasing experience within manufacturing or a supplier-based industry
- Additional supply chain experience — beneficial
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems — advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
