Nursery Practitioner
Wibli Wobli Nursery
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, nurturing, and inspiring care and education for children, supporting their learning and development through creative, play-based experiences. The Nursery Practitioner will work as part of a passionate team to create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Learning
- Deliver high-quality care and education in line with the Curriculum for Wales and Development Matters (as appropriate).
- Plan and provide engaging, creative, and child-led experiences that support all areas of development.
- Observe, assess and record children’s progress accurately.
- Support each child’s individual needs, interests and next steps.
- Promote positive behaviour using a nurturing, respectful approach.
Environment
- Create and maintain a stimulating, well-organised learning environment indoors and outdoors.
- Ensure continuous provision reflects children’s interests and promotes curiosity and independence.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety at all times.
Relationships
- Build strong, professional relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with families about their child’s progress and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively as part of the Wibli Wobli team, contributing ideas and supporting one another.
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children is prioritised at all times.
- Attend regular training and staff meetings as required.
Person SpecificationEssential:
- Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare Qualification (or above).
- Sound knowledge of child development.
- A warm, caring and enthusiastic personality.
- Creative and proactive approach to planning and play.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
Desirable:
- Welsh speaking or willingness to learn and promote the Welsh language within the setting.
- Experience working within a nursery or early years setting.
- First Aid and Safeguarding training.
