Storefast Solutions is a dynamic, forward thinking and growing manufacturing, contract packing and warehousing company based in Kent.
We are looking to recruit a Skilled Machine Operative to join our Finished Goods team on our afternoon shift (14:00-23:00, Monday to Friday).
Reporting to the shift Team Leader and Finished Goods Manager, they will be an active member on our production line(s), ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, cost effectively, and to high quality standards.
This role will involve working on the various production lines and production facilities within Storefast Solutions and will require a high level of versatility and flexibility.
Main Responsibilities:
- Completing day-to-day production tasks as directed by their Team Leader and/or Finished Goods Manager.
- Working to achieve production targets, ensuring goods are produced to the required quality standards, updating production records and paperwork.
- Working within a “right first time” culture where errors and rework are minimised.
- Maintain safety in the workplace and good cleaning housekeeping standards at all time.
- Ability to meet quality and efficiency targets.
- Flexibility in performing different duties around the department.
- Understanding and adherence to working standards, specifications and compliance within production.
- Safety requirements of manual handling, working at height and in confined spaces.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for handling all products efficiently and correctly.
- Pro-actively respond and find solutions to production issues and potential problems reporting to the Team Leader and/or Finished Goods Manager.
Skilled Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor machinery on finished goods production lines to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and minor electrical faults with equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines in accordance with schedules.
- Adjust and fine-tune machine settings to ensure consistent product quality and output.
- Diagnose recurring issues and work with the engineering team to implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, and fixes.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet output and safety targets.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.
- Support equipment changeovers and setups for new product runs.
- Recommend improvements to equipment, processes, or workflows.
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial machinery (ideally in a manufacturing or packaging environment).
- Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background preferred (NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
- Flexible, hands-on approach with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
