We are an independent modern British restaurant, recently taken over by a new owner.
We are looking to expand our chef team with new team members who have experience, passion and fore thought to support our dedicated core team.
We are keen to maintain our positive, supportive working environment and culture for all of the team.
The Glasshouse is currently open Sunday to Thursday 9:00 to 17:00, and Friday and Saturdays 9:00 to 00: 00. Longer term we are planning to open more evenings, and are looking to expand the chef team to accommodate this
Job Summary
We are seeking passionate and dynamic Chefs at multiple levels, to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. As a key member of our operation, you will oversee food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen management, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Your skills will inspire your team to excel in a high quality, fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and contribute to creating memorable dining moments for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs, and kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment
- Plan and develop innovative menus that align with our brand standards and customer preferences, incorporating fine dining techniques when appropriate
- Oversee and participate in food production processes, ensuring consistent quality, proper food handling, and adherence to food safety regulations
- Maintain inventory control and ordering to maintain optimal stock levels while minimising waste and controlling costs
- Cater for events, banquets, and special functions with attention to detail and timely execution
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all kitchen operations, including sanitation practices and food safety protocols
- Monitor shift management activities, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to support team development
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience with a background in fine dining, fresh food catering, or restaurant management for senior roles
- Proven experience in kitchen teams in high-volume environments
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and experience working within dietary departments or specialised menus
- Strong skills in food preparation, menu planning, and food service management
- Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on team management and motivating staff toward shared goals for senior roles
- Proficiency in inventory management or inventory control, and cost-effective food production practices
- Familiarity with food safety standards, HACCP principles, and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in shift management, kitchen operations oversight, and restaurant experience is highly desirable
