About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our LFC Team as an Apprentice Gardener. In this role you will play an important role in maintaining the professional, high-quality landscapes across the club’s stadium and training ground facilities. Working alongside experienced grounds and horticulture professionals, you will learn the practical and theoretical skills needed.
This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who are passionate about horticulture, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, and are motivated to contribute to the overall presentation and operational success.
What you will be doing?
Horticulture & Grounds Maintenance

Assist with the maintenance of gardens, landscaped areas, walkways, and club grounds.

Carry out seasonal gardening tasks such as planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, edging, and turf care.

Support the preparation and upkeep of decorative and functional planting schemes.

Help maintain hard-landscaped areas including paths, seating areas, and external features.
Operational Support

Prepare and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in safe working condition.

Assist with waste management tasks, including composting, recycling, and green waste disposal.

Keep work areas clean, safe, and compliant with club and industry standards.
Learning & Development

Attend all required college or education provider sessions to complete horticultural qualifications.

Learn industry best practices, including plant health, soil science, irrigation, and pest control.

Receive on-the-job training from qualified Grounds and Horticulture Team members.
Health & Safety

Follow all club health and safety procedures at all times.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.

Report hazards, near-misses, or damaged equipment to line managers.
Who we are looking for?
Essential

Genuine enthusiasm for gardening, plants, and working outdoors.

Willingness to learn, take instruction, and develop new skills.

Strong work ethic and proactive attitude.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Good timekeeping and reliability.

Physically fit and able to undertake manual outdoor work.
Desirable
-
Basic horticultural knowledge or work experience (volunteer or paid).

Interest in sports turf or grounds maintenance.

Experience using basic gardening tools.
Qualifications

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are preferred; willingness to work toward functional skills is accepted.

Must meet the apprenticeship eligibility requirements set by the training provider.
