Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Care Assistant to join our care home team. This role involves providing high-quality support and assistance to residents during overnight hours, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be attentive to residents’ needs, and have a genuine interest in delivering person-centred care. Previous experience in care home or home care settings is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This is a paid position suitable for individuals committed to making a positive difference in residents’ lives during the night shift.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ safety and well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to their needs or emergencies
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and comfort checks
- Follow individualised care plans to ensure each resident’s specific needs are met effectively
- Maintain accurate records of residents’ conditions and any incidents that occur during the shift
- Support residents in maintaining a comfortable and safe environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare professionals regarding residents’ status or concerns
- Ensure the care environment remains clean, tidy, and secure at all times
- Administer medication as required in accordance with care protocols (training provided)
Skills
- Valid driving licence is desirable for supporting residents with outings or appointments
- Experience working within a care home or providing home care is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to understand and follow detailed care plans tailored to individual residents
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in caring for vulnerable adults during overnight hours
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure resident safety and comfort overnight
Pay: £13.45-£13.50 per hour
