The role:

As a Medical Secretary, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and their wider clinical teams, ensuring the smooth coordination of patient pathways and clinical services. You will be based at Dykebar Hospital, Grahamston Road, Paisley, PA2 7DE

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 10.15 am-16.57pm
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and their clinical teams

Manage complex diaries, appointments and schedules to support efficient service delivery
-
Coordinate patient referrals, clinic appointments and admissions to support the patient journey

Manage waiting lists and support compliance with NHS and Scottish Government waiting time targets

Respond professionally to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries from patients, carers and healthcare professionals

Prepare and process clinical correspondence, reports, discharge summaries and clinic letters with a high degree of accuracy

Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure patient information and records remain accurate and up to date
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- HNC, SVQ Level III in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience

Previous administrative or secretarial experience, ideally within a healthcare environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and a range of electronic systems

Advanced keyboard, audio typing and document production skills with a strong focus on accuracy

Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands

Ability to work independently, use initiative and maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism in sensitive situations
