Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support the senior kitchen team in food production, ensuring timely delivery of orders
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Contribute to menu development ideas and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with health and safety standards, including proper storage and handling
- Supervise junior kitchen staff when required, providing guidance and support in their tasks
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment, demonstrating leadership qualities where appropriate
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a professional kitchen or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience supervising or managing team members is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays if required
- A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
