Overview
We are looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic ideally qualified Bookkeeper on a part time basis, to join our team in our Head Office on Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely.
As Bookkeeper you will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities on a daily basis for tasks such as: -
- Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software.
- Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure.
- Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account transactions.
- Completing and submitting VAT returns.
- Maintaining cashflow, profit and loss, balance sheets and management accounts.
- Assisting the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing year end accounts.
Responsibilities
You will play a pivotal role in our finance department, demonstrating that you can work quickly and efficiently whilst always ensuring the highest level of accuracy.
This role will revolve around all aspects of our purchase, sales ledger and management accounts.
- Recording financial transactions.
- Handling accounts payable and receivable.
- Invoicing and paying vendors for their goods and services.
- Management and payment of suppliers.
- Managing profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Maintaining company ledgers.
- Handling subsidiary accounts.
- Filing historical records and retrieving necessary documents as needed for others.
- Recording cash receipts and handling bank deposits.
- Preparing information for auditors.
- Assisting with our monthly and 4-weekly payroll process – auditing figures, processing payment and acting as back-up.
- Completing VAT forms.
- Additional bookkeeping duties as designated by management.
- Providing administrative and clerical support as needed, including postal administration and incoming office calls.
Requirements
- Ideally qualified/part-qualified ACCA or equivalent.
- Experience of using XERO accounting package.
- Experience of using SAGE payroll system.
- Experienced in Year End and/or Management Accounts.
- An understanding of VAT rates and their general application
- IT proficient, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word. In-depth experience with Excel.
- Attention to detail and highly numerate.
- Logical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Self-motivation and commitment; a “Can Do” attitude.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to work to deadlines and to be adaptable to change.
- Conscientious and organised.
- Enthusiasm to provide the highest quality service at all times.
- A positive approach and an ability to learn quickly.
- Remains positive and resilient under pressure.

Working hours – Part Time, 25 - 28 hours Monday to Friday (specific start/finish times to be discussed).
