We are seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying paint, varnishes, and other finishes to various surfaces, ensuring high-quality results that meet client specifications. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, from residential to commercial properties, contributing to the aesthetic and protective qualities of buildings. The ideal applicant will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling imperfections prior to painting or decorating
- Apply paints, varnishes, wallpapers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety standards are maintained
- Assist in selecting appropriate colours and finishes in consultation with clients or project managers
- Use protective coverings and safety equipment to prevent damage and ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and report any repairs needed
- Collaborate with other tradespeople on larger projects to ensure timely completion
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction painting and decorating or related trade skills
- Good command of English language for effective communication with clients and team members
- Strong attention to detail with an organised approach to work tasks
- Excellent communication skills to understand client needs and explain work processes clearly
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team on larger projects
- Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights
