Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Engineer Apprentice to join our engineering team. This paid apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in systems engineering, mechanical and electrical maintenance, and product development within a dynamic industrial environment. The successful candidate will gain practical experience working alongside experienced engineers, contributing to the maintenance and optimisation of complex systems and equipment. A strong interest in engineering principles, combined with a willingness to learn, is essential for this role.
Responsible for supporting the engineering department in day-to-day general tasks involving the hovercrafts, terminals and sites. This role requires some flexibility in terms of working hours to support the nature of the work demands in the engineering department.
Main areas of
responsibility:
Assisting in carrying out general skirt maintenance & repair work
Day to day support to the engineering team, to include but not limited to: o Keeping the craft clean and presentable at all times e.g. washing windows and bodywork. o Cosmetic repair of craft, terminals and site and upkeep in-line with company standards e.g. paintwork, signage, etc, o Keeping the engineering department tidy o Assisting the engineers with maintenance repairs as required/directed. o Minor maintenance & repairs to the terminal building, as required.
Ensure that they are fully conversant with the company SMS & QMS and understand their contribution towards these.
To establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and external contractors, carrying out all duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner. · Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with documented safe working practices and in accordance with Permits to Work and department engineering risk assessments.
Take responsibility for personal Health and Safety; and that of others in the working environment.
Ensure the correct PPE and Health and Safety requirements are maintained at all times. · Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by a senior member of staff for which you have been trained and equipped.
Attend college as per company instructions. · Complete all necessary tasks and work set from college. · Attend Maths and English lessons if applicable.
