Job Summary
The Colesbourne Inn is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and inspiring a team of kitchen staff. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional with strong leadership skills to contribute to the success of a renowned hospitality establishment. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in menu development, staff management, and maintaining the inn’s reputation for excellent cuisine.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring efficient and smooth daily operations
- Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to guest preferences
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
- Manage food production, including ordering supplies, stock control, and minimising waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive working environment
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Monitor kitchen performance and implement improvements as necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area in accordance with health and safety guidelines
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy culinary environment
- Extensive food production and preparation skills with a strong focus on quality control
- Excellent team management and leadership abilities to motivate staff effectively
- Solid background in cooking, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Experience in restaurant or hospitality settings with a comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of current culinary trends and innovative menu development
- Exceptional communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house personnel
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
