Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and friendly Store Employee to join our retail team. We manage a 24/7 convenience store on the lively Wilmslow road. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining store organisation, and supporting sales through effective merchandising and upselling techniques. This role offers an opportunity to develop organisational and communication skills within a dynamic environment. Fluency in English, along with strong interpersonal skills, will be highly advantageous. The position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to contribute to a welcoming shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Maintain store presentation through effective merchandising and stock organisation
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Handle transactions accurately using the till system, including processing payments and refunds
- Communicate product information clearly, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette when dealing with remote enquiries
- Manage stock levels by receiving deliveries, organising stockroom areas, and conducting inventory checks
- Support the team with general housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe environment
- Assist customers in locating items and providing product recommendations based on their needs
- Use organisational skills to prioritise tasks efficiently during busy periods
Experience
- Previous retail or customer service experience is essential; full training will be provided
- Fluency in English
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on clarity and professionalism
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Knowledge of merchandising principles and upselling techniques is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team and independently as required
