We manufacture, maintain, refurbish and install both shafted and shaft-less screw conveyors to clients throughout the UK water industry. It is desirable that the role holder has experience of installing and maintaining equipment of this or a similar nature.
This role is ideal for someone looking for hands-on work in a manufacturing environment. You will be part of a busy team where attention to detail, reliability & teamwork are key.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter/Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, welding, and fabricating metal components to meet project specifications and quality standards. Your expertise will contribute to the creation and maintenance of high-quality mechanical structures and equipment, ensuring safety, durability, and efficiency. Duties
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide fabrication and assembly processes
- Use TIG welding techniques to join metal components with precision and consistency
- Fabricate sheet metal parts and structures using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
- Assemble mechanical components accurately, ensuring proper fit and function
- Operate various welding equipment, including welding methods, to complete projects efficiently
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to cut, shape, and assemble materials
- Conduct quality checks on finished work to ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience in TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication, and general welding techniques
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment effectively
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, etc
- Knowledge of assembly processes for mechanical structures or equipment
- Ability to work safely with welding equipment and adhere to health and safety regulations
- Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving

HOURS
Full Time (Permanent) - 40-45 hours week. Salary negotiable.
Monday to Friday - 7.00 - 4.00pm (40 hours) or 7.00 - 5.00pm (45 hours)
Though flexibility is required, it is expected that candidates will be willing to work overtime as and when the situation dictates.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential - A mechanical engineering / welding qualification
Essential - Experience of onsite mechanical fitting
Essential - Understanding of engineering drawings
Desired - Forklift experience
Knowledge of screw conveyors or similar
Strong practical problem-solving skills
High attention to detail
