Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the full credit control function, ensuring timely collection of payments, maintaining accurate customer accounts and supporting the wider finance team. You will work closely with customers, the internal sales team and external partners to keep cashflow healthy and accounts running smoohtly . Responsibilities
- Manage customer accounts maintaining accurate customer records, managing credit limits and overseeing payment terms within SAP.
- Assist with accurate and timely month-end reporting including preparing weekly aged‑debt reports and flagging accounts that present risk or require follow‑up.
- Proactively chase outstanding payments and ensure timely collections by phone and email
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding account queries and statements.
- Investigating and resolving invoice queries, shortages, pricing discrepancies and issuing credit notes.
- Manage the cash allocation by applying incoming payments to the correct accounts and ensuring all reconciliations are completed accurately
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the finance department.
- Complete and process claim forms and other relevant financial documentation
- Provide cover for other finance team members during holidays or absences
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in credit control, ideally within FMCG, wholesale or distribution.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and contribute to process improvements
- Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential.
