About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, professional and detail-oriented Renewable Energy Surveyor to join our growing team.
This role involves carrying out whole home renewable energy surveys for solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers and air source heat pumps, ensuring all proposed systems are suitable, practical and ready for design and installation.
You will play a key role in the customer journey, acting as the link between sales, design and installation. As well as gathering accurate technical information, you will be expected to engage confidently with customers, represent the company professionally, and help facilitate the eventual sale by creating a positive, knowledgeable and trustworthy impression on site.
Full support will be provided, including a minimum 1–2 week induction and field-based training period alongside an experienced surveyor at the start of employment, with further training provided where required.
You will also be equipped with modern surveying technology and software to support data collection, reporting and survey accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site whole home renewable energy surveys for solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers and air source heat pump installations
- Assess roof condition, structure, orientation and shading for solar PV systems
- Assess suitability for battery storage, including location, access, ventilation and installation constraints
- Assess suitability for EV charger installations, including charger location, cable routing, parking arrangements and electrical supply position
- Assess property suitability for air source heat pump installations, including:
- External unit location and clearances
- Noise considerations and planning constraints
- Existing heating system and heat emitters
- Property fabric and relevant technical details
- Gather accurate on-site information required to support heat loss reports for air source heat pump proposals
- Take measurements, photographs and technical information needed for design and quoting
- Identify installation risks, technical constraints, or remedial works required
- Produce clear and accurate survey reports with findings and recommendations
- Liaise with internal design and installation teams to confirm technical feasibility
- Ensure surveys are completed in line with company procedures and relevant compliance requirements
- Advise on upgrades where required, including insulation, radiators, pipework or electrical works
- Deliver an excellent customer experience during site visits
- Represent the business professionally at all times and help support the progression of sales opportunities
Requirements
- Experience in renewable energy surveying, property surveying, or a similar technical field
- Good understanding of:
- Solar PV and battery storage systems
- Heating systems and air source heat pump principles
- Basic EV charger installation requirements
- The information needed to support heat loss assessments
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- Professional, well-presented and confident when attending customers’ homes
- Good IT skills and confidence using tablets, CRM systems and survey software
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence essential
Desirable but Not Essential
- DEA qualification
- Electrical qualification
- Heating / plumbing qualification
- Knowledge of MCS standards and relevant UK building regulations
- Experience supporting or completing heat loss reports
Training & Support
- Minimum 1–2 week onboarding and shadowing period with an experienced surveyor at the start of employment
- Ongoing technical and compliance training where required
- Use of modern technology and digital tools to support surveying and reporting
