Automotive Service Advisor

We’re looking for a friendly, organised and commercially minded Service Advisor to join the team at Rubber Duck Cars.
This is a varied, customer-facing role working alongside our workshop team. You’ll be responsible for looking after customers from the point they book their vehicle in through to collection, as well as helping us grow the retail side of our workshop.
Previous experience as a Service Advisor or within the motor trade would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. We’re more interested in finding someone who is confident dealing with customers, well organised, comfortable using computer systems and happy working in a busy environment.
What you'll be doing
- Booking customers' vehicles into the workshop and managing the diary
- Speaking to customers by phone, email and face-to-face
- Understanding what work a customer requires and accurately recording it for the workshop
- Keeping customers updated while their vehicle is with us
- Preparing estimates and explaining recommended work clearly
- Liaising with technicians and the workshop team throughout the day
- Preparing and invoicing completed jobs
- Taking payments and arranging vehicle collection
- Contacting existing and prospective customers to generate additional servicing, MOT and repair work
- Following up previous customers and identifying opportunities for future work
- Helping to maximise workshop bookings and keep the diary full
- Providing a friendly, straightforward and professional customer experience
What we're looking for
You don't necessarily need previous motor trade experience. We can teach the automotive side of the role to the right person.
You will need to be:
- Confident and comfortable speaking to customers
- Friendly, professional and able to build rapport
- Organised and able to manage several jobs at once
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Commercially aware and confident asking customers for business
- Able to communicate clearly with both customers and technicians
- Reliable and willing to take ownership of your work
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment
Previous experience as a Service Advisor, Service Receptionist, Workshop Controller or in an automotive aftersales environment would be particularly useful, but isn't essential.

Rubber Duck Cars is an independent used car retailer with sites in Gateshead and North Shields. We've grown rapidly over the last few years and now have a team of around 30 people and more than 200 vehicles in stock.
We're continuing to develop the servicing and aftersales side of the business, and this role is an opportunity to become an important part of that growth.
