Within DDaT, the Infrastructure Team are responsible for the core technology platforms that underpin services across Hillcrest. Working in a modern and collaborative environment, we manage and develop our server, network, cloud, security and identity platforms, ensuring they remain secure, reliable and fit for the future. We work closely with our Service Desk and Applications teams to deliver resilient services, support innovation and drive continual improvement across the organisation.
About the Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Hillcrest's technology environment. Working under the guidance of the Senior Operations Engineer, you'll support the day-to-day operation of our infrastructure platforms, helping to ensure services remain secure, available and performing effectively.
You'll be involved in the administration, monitoring and support of servers, networks, firewalls, virtualisation platforms, Microsoft 365, identity services and remote access technologies. You'll investigate and resolve infrastructure issues, support patching and vulnerability management activities, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure upgrades, migrations and modernisation initiatives.
A key aspect of the role will be helping to maintain Hillcrest's cyber security posture. You'll support security monitoring, investigate alerts, assist with remediation activities and contribute to initiatives that strengthen identity protection, access management and compliance. You'll also help maintain technical documentation, support backup and disaster recovery processes, and identify opportunities to improve services and operational efficiency.
About You
You will bring:
- Experience supporting servers, networks or core infrastructure services within a modern IT environment.
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure issues and supporting operational service delivery.
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies, networking concepts and identity services.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, cloud services, firewalls and remote access solutions.
- Experience supporting patch management, security governance and compliance activities.
- Experience working with monitoring tools, alerts and operational reporting.
- A strong understanding of core networking technologies including IP, DNS, DHCP and VLANs.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through complex issues.
- Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- A customer-focused mindset and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
