Job Overview
Frilu is a growing, family-run landscaping, outdoor living, and materials supply business. We supply aggregates, landscaping products and high-quality outdoor living items to local tradespeople, landscapers, private homeowners, and commercial clients across Cumbria.
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, practical and organised person to join our team as a Yard Operative. You will help make sure the right products are prepared accurately, vehicles are loaded on time, incoming deliveries are dealt with safely and the yard remains clean, organised and professional.
You will work closely with our HGV drivers, showroom staff, suppliers and customers.
Previous yard, warehouse or forklift experience would be useful, but it is not essential. Full training can be provided for someone with the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Picking and preparing customer and delivery orders
- Filling and preparing bags of aggregates and other loose materials
- Loading company delivery vehicles safely and accurately
- Unloading incoming supplier deliveries
- Checking incoming and outgoing stock against delivery paperwork
- Organising products so they are stored safely and can be found easily
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting low, damaged or missing items
- Making sure orders are ready for drivers at the required time
- Keeping the yard, storage areas and loading zones clean, tidy and safe
- Helping keep company vehicles and equipment clean and organised
- Reporting vehicle or equipment damage and defects promptly
- Assisting trade and private customers collecting products
- Communicating clearly with delivery drivers, showroom staff, suppliers and the wider team
- Supporting other reasonable yard and logistics duties when required
The role involves working outdoors in different weather conditions and regular manual handling. Suitable training, equipment and safe working procedures will be provided.

Our customers range from local tradespeople and landscapers to private homeowners, hotels and commercial clients purchasing high-value products. You do not need to be overly formal, but you must be friendly, respectful and able to represent Frilu professionally.
Experience
Experience in any yard, warehouse, builders' merchants, stock handling or agricultural industries would be helpful, but is not required.
Forklift training may be provided where appropriate. A full UK driving licence would be useful but is not essential.
Working Hours
We are open to both full-time and part-time applications for the right candidate, with a minimum of 24 hours a week required. The yard operates primarily between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. The successful applicant’s normal days and hours will be agreed in advance.
