Balloo House Care Home – Senior Care Assistant
Are you an experienced carer ready to take the next step in your career? At Balloo House Care Home, we’re looking for a compassionate, confident, and motivated Senior Care Assistant to join our team. If you have a natural ability to guide others, support residents, and keep the home running smoothly, we would love to welcome you into our family.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely cares about people and takes pride in leading by example. You’ll work weekend on / weekend off, offering both hands-on care and supportive leadership to ensure our residents receive the dignity, comfort, and high-quality care they deserve.
You will also take part in our on-call rota, supporting the team with advice and guidance when needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing high-quality, person-centred care while promoting residents’ independence, comfort, and wellbeing.
- Leading and supporting staff during your shifts, ensuring the team follows care plans and best practices.
- Acting as a role model—encouraging good communication, teamwork, and a caring, resident-focused culture.
- Supporting with care plan reviews, documentation, and reporting changes in residents’ needs.
- Managing medications in line with policy and ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
- Assisting with new staff, delegation of tasks, and ensuring shifts run smoothly and safely.
- Handling on-call duties on a rota basis, offering guidance, problem-solving, and support to the team when required.
- Working closely with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and management to maintain a homely, respectful environment.
What We’re Looking For
- At least one year of supervisory experience in a care home or similar setting.
- Working towards or already hold a Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care.
- Strong leadership skills with the confidence to support, guide, and motivate others.
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, compassionate approach.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work on your own initiative when needed.
- Good IT and recording skills to support documentation and communication.
- Someone flexible, caring, and dedicated to improving the lives of the residents we support.
Why Join Balloo House?

Please note: Applicants must be 18 or over, already living in Northern Ireland, and we are unable to provide sponsorship.
