About the Role
We have an opportunity for a Hygiene Nights Supervisor to join our Hygiene team at our Leyland production site, working Tuesday to Saturday.
This is a key leadership role within our night hygiene operation, responsible for leading, supporting and developing our Hygiene team to consistently deliver the high standards required across our manufacturing environment. You will create a positive, accountable and safety-focused culture where people understand the importance of their role and are supported to perform at their best.
Working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and other site functions, you will ensure our factory is cleaned and released to the required food safety and hygiene standards, whilst continually looking for opportunities to develop our people, strengthen our processes and improve the effectiveness of our hygiene operation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop the night Hygiene team, setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback and creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement. Take responsibility for team performance, capability, training and development, ensuring individuals have the skills and support required to succeed.
Deliver consistently high hygiene and food safety standards across the site, ensuring cleaning schedules, procedures and verification activities are completed effectively. Use your understanding of microbiological risks and hygiene principles to identify trends, investigate failures and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
Ensure the safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals and hygiene equipment, maintaining compliance with COSHH, chemical handling requirements, Health & Safety standards and site procedures. Challenge unsafe or ineffective practices and ensure the team understands not just what is required, but why it is important.
Drive continuous improvement within the Hygiene function by reviewing performance, challenging existing practices and working collaboratively with Production, Quality and Engineering. Lead investigations and root cause analysis where standards are not achieved and support the site in maintaining audit readiness and delivering against internal, customer and regulatory requirements.
About You
You are an engaging and visible people leader with proven experience of leading, motivating and developing teams. You are comfortable managing performance, having constructive conversations, recognising good performance and helping individuals build their skills and progress.
You have a strong practical understanding of hygiene within a food manufacturing or similarly controlled environment, including cleaning principles, microbiological risks, environmental hygiene and the importance of effective hygiene verification.
You understand the safe and effective management of cleaning chemicals, including COSHH requirements, chemical concentrations, safe handling and the importance of selecting and applying the correct cleaning methods. Knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards and BRCGS requirements would be advantageous.
You will ideally hold a recognised qualification in Leadership and Management, together with a relevant Hygiene Management, Food Safety or equivalent qualification. We would also welcome candidates who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability gained through relevant practical experience, with a willingness to undertake further development and qualifications as part of the role.
You are proactive, organised and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge standards and make decisions when required. You can analyse problems, identify root causes and work collaboratively with different departments to deliver sustainable improvements.
Location
The role will be based from our Leyland production site, with free on-site parking. You may be required to travel to our Leeds Head Office and other external locations to meet business requirements
