We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. You will also cover for the Head Chef in their absence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a vibrant Care home environment while contributing to the creation of memorable dining experiences for our residents.
This role will operate on a rota basis of, 3 shifts on and 3 shifts off over a 6 week rolling rota continual. This ensures a good work life balance can be experienced.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menus that meet quality standards and resident expectations.
- Step up to Head Chef role in their absence.
- Involve residents in the food delivery service.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including cooks and food production team members, to ensure efficient workflow.
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining consistency in presentation and taste.
- Ensure all food safety regulations and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to across the kitchen.
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and oversee inventory control to minimise waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Support in training new team members and fostering a positive team environment.
- Assist with serving food during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery to guests.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure smooth service operations.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a care or hospitality setting.
- Stepping up to cover head chef at times of absence.
- Extensive background in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with menu development, stock management, and customer service is advantageous.
