The Boat Bar & Grill is a brand new 160 cover Indian mixed grill pub opening in Wolverhampton. We're bringing together bold, authentic grill food, a lively bar and a genuine local welcome, and we're building the team that will define the place from day one.
This is a rare ground-floor opportunity. As our General Manager, you won't be stepping into someone else's routine, you'll help shape how the venue runs, feels and grows. If you want real ownership and the chance to put your stamp on a new opening, this is it.
The role
You'll take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the venue across both the bar and the restaurant leading the team, delivering standout service, and keeping the operation profitable and compliant.
What you'll do:
- Run daily operations across bar, floor and kitchen, keeping service smooth and standards high at every cover
- Lead, motivate and develop the front-of-house and bar team, setting the tone for a positive, hard-working culture
- Own recruitment, rotas, training and performance, building a skilled and reliable team
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience welcome customers, handle feedback and resolve issues quickly and professionally
- Manage the bar and cellar: stock control, line care, ordering, waste and margins
- Keep tight control of costs, GP and stock across both bar and kitchen, and report on performance
- Ensure full compliance with licensing law, food safety and health & safety across the premises
- Work closely with the kitchen to keep food quality, consistency and presentation on point
- Help drive covers and footfall through local awareness and a strong day-to-day reputation
What we're looking for
- Proven management or strong supervisory experience in a pub, bar or restaurant
- Confident leadership someone who can motivate a team, set standards and lead from the front
- Solid understanding of food safety, licensing and health & safety in a hospitality setting
- Commercial awareness: comfortable with stock, ordering, costs and GP
- Cellar and bar operations experience (line care, stock rotation, drinks range)
- A genuine hospitality mindset warm with guests, calm under pressure, and able to juggle a busy service
- Strong communicator who can bridge front-of-house, bar and kitchen
- A Personal Licence is desirable (we can support the right candidate in obtaining one)
