Boundary Landscapes is a garden maintenance company based in and around Tunbridge Wells & surrounding areas. We are looking for a Lead Gardener / Team Leader to join our team, working on a variety of gardens within a 20 mile radius of Tunbridge Wells. Ideally the candidate will be organised, high calibre, client focused to help keep our high end gardens in peak condition. More importantly is that you are interested in the job, can work thoroughly, productively, organised, reliable and can plan your day and meet client's and our expectations.
We are a growing team of gardeners. Our gardeners generally work in teams of two, so a lead is responsible for ensuring the team is where it needs to be with the right equipment on a day to day basis. Liaising with customers during visits to get the best out of their gardens is an important part of a Lead Gardener’s role, providing opportunities for ‘ownership’ of some beautiful gardens where the possibilities for horticultural development and planting are endless.
Maintenance tasks will include, but not be limited to: lawn care; bed work & pruning; mulching and hedge cutting. Wherever possible we encourage our gardeners within our team who have broad experience of different methods, allowing our gardeners the flexibility to try new things and develop their own skills and experience, according to their horticultural slants.
As well as regular maintenance work, we are often called upon to create and execute planting plans for new and existing clients, so good plant knowledge and plant design principles are beneficial.
Good communication and management skills are essential as you would be 'leading' an Assistant Gardener team on a day-to-day basis to ensure our high standards are adhered to and our customers are happy. Our philosophy is to take the hassle of gardening away from our customers so they can enjoy their gardens to the fullest. We work hard, but take enormous pride in what we do.
As well as Gardeners, we would consider applicants from all areas of horticulture, including grounds maintenance, lawn care, landscaping, tree surgery, nurseries and garden centers, however with some form of lead experience in a team. However plant & gardening knowledge is key and required.
We are able to offer career progression and training, alongside a supportive team, where sharing knowledge and experience is encouraged and nurtured.
Due to the rural location of our base, own transport is essential. Please do not apply if you do not have your own transport. You will however be provided with a work vehicle for your working day as well as tools
