Based at the heart of South Leeds, The Hunslet Club has been helping young people achieve their full potential for over 85 years. With a membership of 4000 young people and around 87,000 individual visits, we are one of the largest youth organizations in the country.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our wonderful team and make a positive impact on the lives of our young people.
We deliver over 100 sessions each week, with an average attendance of 100+ young people each week across our Senior Youth sessions. Our Senior Youth Club activities include World Food, Baking, Quizzes, Self Care, football, art, hair and beauty, gaming and countless others.
Responsibilities
As a Youth Support Worker, you will engage with young people (typically aged between 10 - 18 years old) in and out of sessions and reinforce the positive and inclusive space we embody at The Hunslet Club. You will be expected to help plan, organise and facilitate fun engaging sessions, boosting engagement and meeting the needs of the young people attending. You will also be responsible for planning and developing sessions of your own, working closely with our Youth Work Leads.
You will be expected to build trusting relationships, create safe spaces and practice inclusivity and understanding with young people and the Team.
Skills - Essential
· Passionate about working with young people
· Empathy and understanding towards the challenges faced by young people
· Ability to establish trusting relationships with young people
· Provide emotional support and mentorship to young people facing difficulties
Skills - Desired but not essential
· Qualification in youth work or related field
