We are seeking enthusiastic and driven individual to join our dynamic and progressive team. The appointee will be expected to participate on our 1:10 General Surgery On-Call Rota.
You will play a key role alongside our UGI and General Surgery Consultants in the development and delivery of UGI and General Surgery Services.
On-Call (Warrington Site)
Our on-call rota includes working weekend, weekday on-calls and covering Non-Resident Nights.
The on-call includes a fallow week “Off Week with no commitments” to compensate the hot week on-call.
Theatres
Each Consultant has 3 flexible theatres per week, and these will be based at either Warrington, Nightingale, Captain Sir Tom Moore (CSTM) at Halton.
Endoscopy
The Endoscopy service has excellent leadership which is demonstrated by a supportive and encouraging culture for staff learning, training and progression. This is a busy unit with staff passionate about the care that is provided. The unit carries out a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including bowel cancer screening, therapeutic ERCP, oesophageal stenting, PEG, EMR and oesophageal ph and manometry. The successful postholder will be expected to undertake 1 Endoscopy session each week
Outpatient Clinics
Each Consultant has 2 clinics per week. Usual template for clinic is 6 new patients and 6 follow up with additional patients for ST3+ resident doctors. Clinics operate across both hospital sites within the trust and candidates may undertake clinic sessions at one or both sites.

Audit / Clinical Governance
The department has an active interest in clinical audit including contributing data for national audits and NCEPOD surveys. All medical staff are expected to participate in Clinical Audit. Regular audit meetings are organised both within the department and within the larger CBU structure, and the
appointee will be expected to participate.
Fully informed and documented consent will be undertaken for procedures and body tissue samples.
Educational Activities and Training
This will be conducted annually to support the clinician in his/her current work duties and incorporating methodical planning for the future with support to ensure the consultant meets revalidation.
There is an established local departmental teaching programme that we run weekly on Friday lunchtime and the appointee shall be encouraged to participate in delivering that. The appointee will share responsibility for educational and clinical supervision of resident doctors with other Consultants will be conducted annually to support the clinician in his/her current work duties and incorporating methodical planning for the future with support to ensure the consultant meets revalidation.
