Job description: Education Programme Lead (EPL)

The Education Programme Lead plays a key role in delivering high-quality educational and mentoring programmes that support young people to achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom. Working primarily within secondary schools, you will deliver engaging educational programmes, provide one-to-one and small group mentoring, and build positive relationships with pupils, school staff and families. The role focuses on improving engagement, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and aspiration through sport-inspired education and targeted interventions. As part of the Education Team, you will represent Exeter City Community Trust professionally and contribute to the continued development and growth of our education programmes.
Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging educational programmes within schools that support personal development, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
· Provide high-quality mentoring to young people requiring additional support to overcome barriers to learning and engagement.
· Build trusted relationships with pupils, school staff, parents/carers and external professionals.
· Plan, prepare and deliver creative and inclusive learning sessions that meet programme objectives.
· Monitor and record participant progress, attendance and outcomes using Trust systems.
· Support schools in improving attendance, behaviour, confidence and educational engagement.
· Adapt delivery to meet the individual needs of young people from diverse backgrounds.
· Work collaboratively with school staff to identify support strategies and review progress.
· Maintain accurate records, reports and case notes in line with organisational requirements.
· Ensure all delivery is compliant with safeguarding, health and safety and quality assurance procedures.
· Support the promotion and development of Education programmes across the Trust.
· Attend team meetings, training and continuous professional development opportunities.
· Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role across the department and Trust.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience of working with children and young people within education, youth work, sport or community settings.
- Experience delivering engaging educational sessions or mentoring programmes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people, schools and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- An understanding of the barriers affecting young people's engagement in education.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple programmes and priorities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintaining accurate records.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Teaching qualification, Youth Work qualification or relevant professional qualification.
- Experience working with pupils requiring additional support, including SEND or Alternative Provision.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
- Experience working in partnership with schools or local authorities.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
