Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and running efficiently while supporting the chefs with food preparation and other kitchen duties when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Clean work surfaces, floors, storage areas, and kitchen appliances.
- Dispose of waste and recycling safely and efficiently.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries correctly.
- Assist with basic food preparation, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Support chefs with kitchen duties during busy service periods.
- Help with stock rotation and ensure food is stored according to food safety standards.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to assist chefs and work as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices is an advantage.
