Main Duties

To provide a safe and welcoming environment for children, parents and carers
- To provide the highest standards of childcare and excellent levels of customer service at all times.

To have an understanding that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and that you have a duty to act accordingly & report any concerns.
General responsibilities
- Promote a warm and understanding relationship between children and parents in a stable, relaxed, and secure atmosphere.
- Encourage children in self-help, personal hygiene and acceptable social behaviour in a positive way. Provide intimate care as needed.
- Involve parents/carers in the induction, care and progress of their children at club.
- Complete Medicine, Accident and Injury on Arrival forms as required by the 1989 Children’s Act.

Ensuring you have an understanding that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and that you have a duty to act accordingly & report any concerns. Have knowledge of the statutory framework ‘Working together to safeguard children’, Trafford’s Local Safeguarding Children’s Board (LSCB) guidelines along with Kids Collective Safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Maintain children’s records including observation, planning and evaluation assessment and tracking, sharing all information with the child’s parents/carers keeping learning journeys up to date
- Report any matters of concern regarding children, staff or parents/carers to the Club Leader/ Deputy and/or the Kids Collective Management Team.

To respect confidentiality of information about individual children and their families.
- On completion of the health and safety induction, ensure that you adhere to all health and safety regulations at all times including the identification of risks and report any concerns to the Club Leader and/or Health & Safety Co-ordinator
- Maintain the children’s equipment and playrooms, ensuring that the rooms are safe and clean to meet the needs of each individual child. The environment must also promote equality and diversity of the society in which we live.
- Care for sick children, administrating medicine and/or first aid as necessary, keeping parents/carers informed as required.
- Work as an effective team member being flexible with working practices including being prepared to help any Kids Collective setting as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training for continued personal and professional development.
- Help with the preparation and serving of children’s meals where needed. Ensuring mealtimes are pleasurable, social events that provide opportunities for children to gain independence and learn new skills
- Complete head counts, collection of children and registers where required.
- Participate in staff/club meetings, in-service training and the development of Kids Collective policies and procedures.
- Provide an anti-oppressive and non-discriminatory environment, which combats race, differently able and gender stereotypes, and promote equal opportunities.
- Liaise with other childcare professionals sharing information as required and therefore promoting a multi-agency working environment
- Be of smart appearance and be a good role model for the children and others by adopting good personal hygiene routines
- Provide support and guidance to trainees/students as needed.
- Participate in fund raising activities and contribute to newsletters.
- Undertake any other duties required by the Kids Collective Management/Elmscot Group owners.
