We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Livestock Manager to oversee daily operations on a busy country estate. Day to day responsibility for a multitude of species. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing livestock care, maintaining farm infrastructure, and ensuring the overall health and productivity of the farm. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal husbandry and the highest quality pedigree livestock, with a focus on sustainable farming practices. The position requires hands-on management, technical skills, and a proactive approach to farm maintenance and animal welfare.
Duties
- Oversee the daily care and management of livestock, including feeding, health monitoring, and breeding programmes
- Ensure all farm activities comply with health and safety regulations and animal welfare standards
- Assist with general farm maintenance including the repair of fences, gates, and other structures
- Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth workflow across all farm operations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal care practices and livestock management
- Experience with irrigation systems and horticultural techniques
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair equipment using hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency in basic maths for inventory control and record keeping
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and manual labour in outdoor environments
- Familiarity with farm maintenance routines including fencing, gate repairs, and infrastructure upkeep
- Ability to operate farm machinery safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and scheduling
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic rural setting
