Hours: Friday evenings, 6.15pm–9.15pm
Frequency: Alternate Fridays during term time
Pay: National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage, depending on age
Crossways Youth Club is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and engaging Youth Leader (18+) to join our team and help make Friday evenings a fun, safe and welcoming place for young people.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over. The successful applicant will be required to complete a DBS check as part of the appointment process.
The role
As a Youth Leader, you will help plan and run engaging activities and provide positive support and encouragement to the young people who attend the club.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering fun, creative and age-appropriate activities.
- Building positive relationships with young people and encouraging them to get involved.
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment.
- Listening to young people and supporting their ideas, interests and needs.
- Being a responsible and positive adult role model.
- Helping to manage behaviour fairly and appropriately.
- Supporting the smooth running of each youth club session.
- Working as part of a team and communicating effectively with other staff and volunteers.
- Following safeguarding, health and safety and club procedures.
- Helping to set up and tidy away equipment and the venue.
- Being alert to any safeguarding concerns and following the appropriate procedures.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- 18 years old or over.
- Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic.
- Confident communicating with young people.
- Creative and able to come up with activities that young people will enjoy.
- Patient, responsible and dependable.
- A positive role model with a genuine interest in helping young people thrive.
- Comfortable working as part of a team.
- Able to commit to alternate Friday evenings during term time.
Previous experience working with young people is desirable, but enthusiasm, reliability and the right attitude are just as important.
